As the moon rises through skies colored orange from recent forest fires, Sam Seward prepares to bed down for the night in basecamp along the Tiedemann Glacier in the Waddington Range of British Columbia. I spent a wild week with Sam and another partner in this range in the summer of 2018. We managed to climb two incredible routes, and also survived a harrowing rockfall accident that nearly took Sam's life. I shot this photo near the end of our trip, and distinctly remember being so happy in this moment both for the fact that Sam was alive and that we had the fortune to be in such a beautiful and untrammeled landscape.
